Periodontal Therapy Program
Comprehensive Periodontal Examination, includes a oral cancer check, recording your dental and medical history, general health assessment and a full set of x-rays. Your appointment will also include a detailed evaluation of your supporting periodontal (gum) tissue and your supporting bone structure around your teeth.
Appointment #2 and #3
Deep scaling and root planning, these appointments remove deposits of plaque and calculus (tartar) from under the gum tissue. Usually "2 quadrants" or one aside of the mouth are completed at each appointment.
Re-evalution, this important appointment will allow us to determine the level of improvement following periodontal therapy and will assist us in determining if any additional therapy is needed. We may simply recommend a localized antibiotic to complete the non-surgical approach to your periodontal disease.
Following the completion of your therapy, we will recommend a routine maintenance interval of 3 to 4 months in order to help you maintain your periodontal status. If additional periodontal therapy is needed we may refer you to a Periodontist.
We have found that patients who faithfully adhere to our program can control their gum disease without surgery. If we work as a team, we can prevail against periodontal disease in the most comfortable and least invasive manner possible.
